Tryon NCThe town of Tryon was originally founded more than 125 years ago. Located in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains (roughly 40 miles south of Asheville near the SC state line), this community sits at an elevation of 1,067 feet.

Home to more than 1,800 residents today, this community is routinely hosts outdoor pursuits, and fine arts events. It also is celebrated for its mild climate.

But more than anything, Tryon is recognized for its strong equestrian tradition that continues today. The community supports hunts, shows and private trails and is known for the Collinsville Equestrian Trail Association (CETA) and the Foothills Equestrian Trail Association. The latter organization, FETA, provides private trail systems that offer over a hundred miles of trails.

This community even served as the training ground for the US Olympic equestrian teams.

Even during downtown events, there is a palpable equestrian culture presence. For instance, Morris the Tryon Horse has presided over downtown festivities as the town mascot since 1928.
